RIVER WYE

The River Wye in the beautiful county of Derbyshire is a spring fed limestone river. The river is steeped in angling history starting with Izaak Walton & Charles Cotton. In slightly more recent times the river is famous for being one of the only UK waters where rainbow trout breed and maintain a self sustaining wild population in addition to the native brown trout that also abound in the crystal clear waters.

The River Wye, I believe, is the finest insect driven fly-fishing river in England. The insect populations and the sheer diversity of species are simply breathtaking. As a consequence of this rich food resource the trout fishing is of a very high quality.

The fishery I can guide you on is around ¾ of a mile long (both banks), it is very exclusive and is strictly limited to a maximum of only four rods per day. Booking is essential as days on this river are very popular. A deposit (£48) will also be required to secure your place.

The rules are simple; single upstream dry fly or imitative nymph (no lures!) only with a maximum size 12 hooks (these must be barbless). There is also a no wading rule on this part of the river.
